The Special Adviser to Kogi State Governor on Media, Ismaila Isah says Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo has brought a common sense approach to the governance of the Confluence State, hence the remarkable achievements in the last one year.

Ismaila noted that the Governor as a good Student of the former Governor Yahaya Bello in Leadership has focused on key sectors of the State’s Economy which has brought rapid development and made life more meaningful for the people.

The Governor’s Spokesman was speaking on the First Anniversary of the Governor on Hot FM, Lagos.

He said the Governor had since assumption of office given attention to security in a bid to ensure that Kogi people sleep with their two eyes closed with massive investment in security particularly in the area of provision of logistics such as operational vehicles for security personnel.

He stated that the State Security Architecture has been enhanced with the employment of over 2000 officers and men of the State Neighborhood Watch, Local Hunters and Vigilante to ensure effective and efficient community Policing.

“We’ve been able to enhance the security architecture in the state by recalibrating the State Vigilante Service where over 2000 persons have been employed to compliment the conventional security agencies.

He pointed out that these efforts for the Security Sector have provided the conducive atmosphere for doing business, thereby, boosting the economic potential of the State.

“We have also provided specialized motorcycles to the hunters to go into the deep part of our bushes and our boundaries with neighbouring states as you are aware that Kogi is bordered by nine States and the FCT. All of these boundaries are places where criminals go to hide before and after attacking our people in the past. We have been able to encourage security agencies to take the fight to the hideouts of criminals.

The Media Adviser said the common sense approach of the Chief Servant of Kogi state has been felt in agriculture and food security with investment of billions of Naira in the Sector, while prices of foods have crashed in the state

He maintained that the administration of Governor Ododo has introduced agricultural mechanization under the “one man, one hectare” policy aimed at bringing the people back to farming.

He explained that the repairs of old tractors saved the State billions of Naira that would have been expended in purchasing new ones, saying people interested in farming have been adequately supported by the administration.

Ismaila stated that the free education policy introduced by the immediate past administration has been sustained by the present government in a bid to cushion the effect of the current economic situation, while Bursary and scholarship are given to students of Kogi state origin.

“Just few days ago, His Excellency approved the disbursement of over N300 million for payment of Bursary to Students. This bursary use to be about N12,000 before but it has been increased to N30,000. We have also paid WAEC fees for over 8000 Students which cost over N600 million. So all of these were done to ensure that our Children are kept in school and that’s why Kogi has the lowest rate of out-of-school students in the North.

The Spokesman added that youths and women have been meaningfully engaged in governance with 85% of the government officials within the age bracket of 40 to 30 years.
