The Transition Caretaker Chairman Ijumu LGA, Alhaji Ibrahim Haruna has donated Vehicles and Motorcycles to Vigilante Group in the Local Government in a bid to ensure safety of lives and property.
Recall that Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, on Friday, 26th, April, 2024, flagged off distribution of over one hundred vehicles and 44 motorcycles to boost community policing initiatives across the 21 Local Government Areas of the state.
The caretaker Chairman, while presenting the vehicles and motorcycles to the security outfit at the council Secretariat in Iyara, said the gesture was to improve consistent policing of the Local Government and as well enhance intelligence gathering that will facilitate the efforts of security agencies in the local government.
The caretaker Chairman, lauded Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo, for his foresight in protecting the lives and property of his people with the execution of security-related projects.
While warning members of the vigilante group to be professional in their conduct, stressed the need to collaborate with Security Agencies for effective safety of lives and property.
The council Boss urged the Vigilante to reciprocate the gesture by intensifying intelligence gathering and surveillance in suspected red zones and bring criminals terrorising the area to justice.
He therefore appealed to the public to assist security operatives in the local government with useful information that would lead to the arrest of criminals in the local government.
Receiving the operational vehicles and motorcycles on behalf of the Vigilante Group, Commander Malik James Oloruntoba, promised to ensure judicious use of the items.
