High Chief Shuaib Ipinmisho, Senior Special Assistant to the Kogi State Governor on Land Matters, has praised the Chairman of Ijumu Local Government Council, Alhaji Haruna Ibrahim, for shutting down the Iyara Zango Market due to growing insecurity concerns.
This bold move was prompted by intelligence reports revealing that kidnappers and other criminal elements were using the market for their nefarious activities.
Ipinmisho lauded Hon. Haruna’s courage, stating, “His decision to close the Zango criminal haven is commendable. It marks the end of the road for criminals and kidnappers in our beloved Ijumu Local Government Area.”
The shutdown of the Zango Market is a significant step towards restoring security and stability in the region. It sends a clear message that the government will not tolerate criminal activity and will take bold measures to protect its citizens.
Ipinmisho emphasized that the market’s closure is a proactive measure to prevent further security threats and ensure the safety of Ijumu residents and travelers.
This move is part of the state government’s efforts to eradicate criminal elements that have given the local government and state a bad image through kidnapping and banditry activities. Governor Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo has mandated the chairman to take decisive action against these criminal elements.
