The Planning and Organizing Committee of Iyamoye Day and the 20th Anniversary of Obaro of Iyamoye, initially scheduled to hold on November 15, 2025, has announced the indefinite postponement of the event.
This decision according to a statement by Alhaji Sheriff Bello Chairman , Planning and Organizing Committee follows the sudden and heartbreaking passing of Dr. Alhaji Ganiyu Obatoyinbo, who was not only a pillar of the Iyamoye community but also the Chief Host of the planned celebration.
It further reads “Therefore, all activities towards the event are hereby suspended and put on hold in honour of the memory of a great son of the land.”
The National Executive Committee of the IDU shall consult and engage with all stakeholders on the final decision regarding the hosting of the events after the burial, and such decision shall be communicated to us accordingly.
