The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board,JAMB, has fixed 150 as the minimum cut-off mark for admission into Nigerian universities and Colleges of Nursing, while polytechnics will admit candidates with a minimum score of 100 for the 2026 academic session.

The cut-off marks were fixed during JAMB’s annual policy meeting held in Abuja, where stakeholders in the education sector reviewed admission guidelines, timelines, and requirements for tertiary institutions nationwide.

Speaking at the Policy Meeting, the JAMB Registrar, Prof. Is-haq Oloyede announced strict deadlines for the conclusion of admissions across institutions.

Oloyede disclosed that public universities are expected to complete admissions by October 31, 2026, while polytechnics have until November 30, 2026.

Also, Monotechnics and colleges of education are to conclude their admission processes by December 31, 2026.

He further directed that candidates offered admission must accept the offer within four weeks or risk losing it, as such offers may be withdrawn or reassigned.

The Registrar advised institutions to strictly adhere to their approved admission quotas and warned against admitting candidates beyond authorised capacities for each programme.

The board also disclosed that the portal for change of course and institution would only be activated after the conduct of the mop-up examination.

JAMB said universities, polytechnics, and other tertiary institutions are expected to commence announcements for Post-UTME and screening exercises immediately after the policy meeting.

The board’s new guidelines are expected to shape the 2026 admission process, with stricter timelines and compliance measures for both institutions and candidates.
