Just In: Ekiti Assembly Speaker Dies at 66

The Speaker of Ekiti State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Funminiyi Afuye is dead.

A Government Statement by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Yinka Oyebode writes “The Government of Ekiti State regrets to announce the death of the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon Funminiyi Afuye.”

Rt. Hon Afuye died Wednesday evening at the Ekiti State Teaching Hospital (EKSUTH), Ado-Ekiti, where he was receiving treatment after suffering a cardiac arrest.

 

The Lawmaker, 66 hailed from Ikere Ekiti a d served as Commissioner for Information during the first tenure of Former Ekiti State Governor Kayode Fayemi between 2010 and 2014.

He was inaugurated Speaker of the sixth Assembly on June 6, 2019.
