The National Council for Women Societies (NCWS) Nigeria has honoured the Minister of Women Affairs, Imaan Suleiman-Ibrahim, by conferring on her the title of Life Time Member of the Council.
The Acting National President of NCWS, Mrs. Geraldine Etuk, who performed the decoration during a courtesy visit to the Minister at the Ministry of Women Affairs on Friday in Abuja. commended the minister for her dedication and notable achievements within a short period of assuming office.

Mrs. Etuk congratulated the Minister on her appointment and pledged the Council’s commitment to collaborating with her to advance women’s empowerment, leadership development programs, and initiatives aimed at increasing women’s participation in politics and decision-making.
“We believe that together, we can make a significant impact and create a brighter future for Nigerian women. Once again, congratulations on your appointment, and we appreciate your time despite your busy schedule. We look forward to a fruitful collaboration,” she said.
During the visit, the acting president advocated for the restoration of NCWS budget lines at the Federal, State, and Local Government levels to ensure the Council’s efficient and effective operations.
In her response, Minister Suleiman-Ibrahim expressed gratitude for the visit and lauded the Council’s efforts in championing the empowerment of Nigerian women, amplifying their voices, fostering economic development, promoting education and social welfare initiatives which resonates with the core values of the Renewed Hope Initiative of the first lady, Her Excellency.Senator Oluremi Tinubu.
The Minister also called on relevant stakeholders to work on developing a new Women’s Anthem to inspire confidence among Nigerian women, particularly ahead of the upcoming 30th anniversary of the Ministry of Women Affairs.
She reiterated the Ministry’s unwavering support for the Council and promised its commitment to address any challenges that may hinder the Council’s operations.
She emphasized the importance of collaboration and assured stakeholders that the Ministry would assist in providing the necessary resources and policies to enhance the Council’s effectiveness.
