Kogi AGILE Seeks Collaboration with Media, CSOs on Project Implementation

Kogi State Project Coordinator of Adolescent Girls Initiative for Learning and Empowerment (AGILE), Dr. Abdulhakeem Bello has solicited the support of the Media and members of Civil Society Organisations towards the implementation of the Project.

Dr. Bello also described the World Bank project as a catalyst for restoring the lost glory of secondary education in the Confluence State.

The SPC made the remark on Monday during a Sensitization Programme aimed at fostering collaboration and awareness with on the implementation of AGILE Project held at the Glass House, Government House, Lokoja.

According to him, part of the plans of the Project is to construct new sets of blocks of classrooms with toilets, sports facilities, laboratories and other components in existing public Secondary Schools.

He said the project will also renovate existing government secondary schools in the State.

“AGILE Project will be renovating all government secondary schools in Kogi State. We will be equipping Senior Secondary schools with fully solar powered computer laboratories and internet enabled.

Dr. Bello further explained part of the focus of the Project is Training of the girl child on what he called “Life Expectancy,” a system of enlightening the girls on how to live their lives in school and after school.

That component is called the life skills whereby she will be trained on adulthood, how to chat the adulthood life, that is she started as a teen, after a while she becomes a young lady. We will be training them on this component called life skill.

He stated that the project will also be introducing Second Chance education for school drop out girls, who will be trained on basic English and vocational skills.

The SPC added that a conditional cash transfer will also be introduced in a bid to improve school enrolment of the girl child, while training and retraining of teachers will be given a priority attention.

He added that to achieve the lofty goals of the project, “We need the collective support and collaboration of all stakeholders to ensure the seamless implementation of this project across Kogi State. This initiative is not just about building structures; it is about shaping the future of our girls by equipping them with knowledge, skills, and character to navigate adulthood successfully.”

He urged stakeholders to remain actively involved, engage with schools in their communities, and provide necessary feedback to AGILE for continuous improvement.

On his part, the Media and Communication Specialist of AGILE, Mr. Bishop Aturu, tasked the Media on the need for accurate and reliable data in their reportage of activities of the Project.
