The Kogi State Government proposes a sum of five hundred and eighty-two point four billion naira for the 2025 fiscal year.
This was part resolutions at the Executive Council Meeting held at the Government House in Lokoja on Wednesday.
The State commissioner for Finance, Budget and Economic Planning, Asiwaju Idris who briefed the Press after the Executive Council meeting noted that the 2025 draft budget is designed to boost internally generated revenue, provide security for business environment, encourage collaborative investments, block wastages in revenue streams, complete ongoing projects while introducing new critical initiatives aligned with the state development plan.
The Commissioner says the government is committed to fostering job creation, supporting Small and Medium Enterprises, and implementing energy solutions to mitigate the impact of fuel subsidy removal.
Other highlights of the budget include emphasis on boosting internally generated revenue, enhancing rural infrastructure, and strengthening the agricultural sector to position Kogi state as a hub for food production and processing.
The budget also focuses on public-private partnerships and social protection programmes, as the state strives for sustainable growth and development including the proposed airport, new road projects and other infrastructure projects in education, health and security architecture in the state.
