An Aspirant of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the May 18th Kogi West Primary election, Hon. Bamidele Samuel Aro has disagreed with the request by Senator Sunday Karimi to move the suit challenging his Candidacy from Lokoja to Abuja.

Hon. Aro had approached the court to determine, among other things, whether the APC is bound by its constitution, electoral guidelines and the Electoral Act in the nomination of its candidate for the 2027 senatorial election in Kogi West.

He is also questioning the validity of the party’s alleged submission of Senator Karimi’s name to INEC, seeking a declaration that the Kogi West APC primary, purportedly produced him as the winner, and that the latter submission of another candidate’s name to INEC on 11 July 2026 is null, void and ineffective.

Similarly, Hon. Aro is praying the court to hold that since he has not withdrawn his candidacy, the party is bound to recognise him as its lawful candidate.

He also sought reliefs of the Court for an order directing INEC to accept and recognise his name as the APC candidate for the Kogi West Senatorial District in the 2027 general election.

When the case was read for mention before Justice Isah Dashen of Federal High Court Lokoja, the Council to Senator Karimi, Ayo Jonathan Esquire informed the Court that he had received a letter indicating that the case had been transferred to the Federal Capital Territory.

While speaking with Journalists, Counsel to Hon. Aro, Johnson Usman disagreed with the move, saying the grounds of insecurity in Kogi State claim by Karimi is unfounded and insufficient.

According to him, hundreds of vehicles passed through Kogi State daily and disagreed with the claim.

He added that the Legal Team of Hon. Aro is ready and will meet them in Abuja.
