The Kogi State Government will on Saturday, August 1st, 2026, pass out about 530 trained personnel of the Nigeria Forest Security Service (NFSS), as part of efforts to reclaim the state’s forests from criminal elements.

The Passing Out Parade (POP), organised by the Office of the State Security Adviser, will hold at the Muhammadu Buhari Civic Centre, Lokoja, by 10am.

Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo, described as the “Chief Servant” of the state, is billed to perform the ceremony, which officials say marks another milestone in the administration’s fight against insecurity.

According to the state government, the newly trained Forest Guards are set to consolidate on the gains already recorded by the administration and other security agencies in tackling crime across the state.

State Security Adviser, Commander Jerry Omodara (rtd), said the deployment of the guards represents a new dawn for security in Kogi, noting that it demonstrates the governor’s commitment to freeing the state’s forests from criminals who have long used them as hideouts to perpetrate attacks.
