A Frontline Kogi State Politician, Dr. Williams Toyin Akanle has reacted to the Kogi West All Progressives Congress (APC) primary election which was held on Saturday.
Dr. Akanle in a chat with The Drum Reporters, congratulated all Contestants especially those from Yagba land.
”Congratulations to Hon Sunday Karimi. Congratulations to Dr Muyiwa Aina and Chief Doyin Ibikunle and all their Coordinators and supporters. You have all done exceedingly well.”
He also congratulated all Yagba sons and daughters at home and in the diaspora, saying with the victory, “We are by this development getting closer to the realization of our collective dream.”
“But let it be told that it is not yet uhuru. We must all go to the drawing board to perfect a winning strategy for the 2023 general election, most especially, into the Senate.”
“I believe that first and foremost, we need to galvanize everyone in Yagba for this purpose. In this regard, l see it as being beyond party lines. There should be no room for musing over the loss at the primaries. Hon Karimi is not the “winner” perse. He is only to stand as the face of the candidate to represent us all in Yagba. So you are a winner, l am a winner, we are all winners.”
“As a people, our greatest joy shall be seeing one of us in the Red Chamber.
Need l to say that this feat has eluded us for about two decades or more. This therefore, is a golden opportunity that we must not allow it to slip off our hands.”
“Individual differences not withstanding, political parties, you like or dislike Hon Karimi as a person notwithstanding, all that must be jettisoned in the overall interest of Yagba.”
