The Media Team of Kogi West Director General of All Progressives Congress Campaign Council, Barr. David Aiyedogbon popularly known as Charvid says every attempt to discredit the APC Chieftain will fail and is Dead on arrival.
A Statement by the Media Team obtained by The Drum Reporters described insinuations that Barr. Aiyedogbon paid a congratulatory visit to the winner of Kabba-Bunu Ijumu Federal Constituency House of Representatives Election victory as false and handiwork of mischief makers.
“On the 15th day of March, 2023, a video purportedly showing Chief David Aiyedogbon on a congratulatory visit to the ADC candidate for Kabba-Bunu/Ijumu Federal Constituency was played to stakeholders of our party in Ijumu Local Government.”
“This is nothing but mischief at its zenith and the continuity of a campaign of calumny against Chief David Aiyedogbon (Charvid).
For the avoidance of doubt, the video being circulated is of the wedding ceremony of the sister of a close aide of Chief David Aiyedogbon in 2021. And the purveyors of the falsehood know this.
“One begin to wonder why the concerted efforts to lay the electoral loss of our party especially in Kabba-Bunu/Ijumu Federal Constituency on the laps of Chief David Aiyedogbon?
Chief David Aiyedogbon after accepting the position of DG Campaign Council for Kogi West worked tirelessly and put in his resources in funds and time for the success of the party. All candidates in Kogi West can attest to the financial assistance of Chief David Aiyedogbon in the election. It is puzzling that instead of appreciation, attempts are being made to misrepresent facts and make him the excuse for personal inadequacies that led to the loss in the election.
“Why the desperation to make Ijumu the scapegoat?
Has anyone asked why our party lost 6 of the wards in Kabba and 3 of the wards in Bunu Districts?
Why the sudden unwillingness to ask why these wards in Kabba-Bunu with prominent APC stalwarts were lost to the opposition?
“The figures of the election in all units and wards are available for all to see and no playing the ostrich will take away the truth.
“It is annoying that after all the efforts put in by Chief David Aiyedogbon in the assignment given to him by the party, some individuals will for reasons best known to them attempt to twist the narrative to excuse their faults.
Is it not strange that our party won in the Presidential and Senatorial ballots in Kogi West but lost in two of the three House of Representatives seats in the same Senatorial District?
It warned those peddling falsehood against Chief David Aiyedogbon to desist and stop the blame game as it will do them no good.
“One wonders why the continuous efforts to discredit a man who is unwavering in his loyalty to our party. What do these mischievous and confused individuals hope to gain from blame shopping and peddling?
“Chief David Aiyedogbon remains a loyal and committed APC member who has utilized his resources for the success of the party; no frenzied attempt to distort the truth will succeed.
