The National Examinations Council (NECO) has distanced itself from a fake Facebook account created in the name of its Registrar and Chief Executive, Prof. Dantani Ibrahim Wushishi, warning that the account is being used to deceive and defraud unsuspecting members of the public.
In a statement issued on Sunday, the Council’s Acting Director of Information and Public Relations, Azeez Sani, said law enforcement agencies have been notified and are taking steps to track down those behind the fraudulent page.
“The Council wishes to draw the attention of the public to the existence of this fake Facebook Account in order to avoid being swindled by the fraudsters.
“Meanwhile, security agents have been informed to take appropriate action against the perpetrators of this fraudulent act,” the statement reads.
