NSCDC Enhances Community Policing in Kogi, Establishes Divisional Unit in Odo-Ape

The Kogi State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has strengthened its operational structure with the creation of a Divisional Center in Odo-Ape Bunu, Kabba/Bunu Local Government Area of the State.

 

During a visit to the palace of His Royal Highness, the Obaro of Odo-Ape Bunu, Oba Jimoh Meseko, the State Security Adviser, Commander Jerry Omodara (rtd), noted that the establishment of a security unit in Odo-Ape is very critical as the community is strategically located and being one of the most populated community within the area.

Jerry Omodara, said the initiative aims to strengthen the NSCDC’s operational structure and enhance efforts to combat criminal activities within the area. He added that the new division when put to place will complement existing structures, and reinforcing the corps’ commitment to strengthening its presence within communities and fostering collaboration in the fight against criminality in all its forms.

 

He stressed that youth of every communities must rise up and be the first line of defense, and ensure timely flow of credible information to the traditional rulers and security agencies. He urged communities to come up with Security Trust Fund account, noting that security is everybody’s business and not the responsibility of the government alone.

 

However, he reiterated the state government’s resolve at ensuring that Kogi State remains secure and free from criminal activities, while assuring his office utmost support towards the establishment of the divisional center.

 

In her separate remarks, the State Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Mrs Esther O. Akinlade, expressed that the establishment of a division center in very key, adding that is part of the Corps’ ongoing efforts to fulfill its core mandate and statutory responsibilities with the goal of enhancing operational effectiveness and service delivery across the State.

 

She further appreciated the state government’s efforts at ensuring that the state remains safe, and also encouraged the public to cooperate with personnel to get rid our communities of criminal elements.
