Addressing newsmen after an inspection of the Airport, the Leader of the Group, Navy Commander Jerry Omodara (rtd), expressed delight with the quality of work done, saying the people of the State are eagerly waiting for the projects.

According to him, the location of the Airport project is historical, as it is the first aircraft field where Lord Frederick Lugard and other colonial masters landed in Nigeria.

“The concept of this project is very viable and we are happy with those that advised the Governor and he is putting the resources of the State in this project. They are thinking well for Kogi State and remember this is the first port for the first airfield in Nigeria, that is Lord Lugard, this is where they were landing. This is good for us, this is good for Kogi,” he said.

“The Governor is toying the line of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to revive the first airfield in Nigeria. We are grateful for this project and we are members of Kogi First, we are determined to continue to monitor and give progress reports to our Communities.”

Commander Omodara commended the contractors for the quality of job done on the runway, among others, and urged them to deliver quality jobs.

While commending Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo for embarking on the legacy projects, he assured that the group, with members across the 21 Local Government Areas, will spread the news of his achievements.

At the Ultra-Modern Market, Lokoja, Commander Omodara expressed satisfaction with the job done by an indigenous contractor, pointing out that the job is being implemented in line with international best practices.

“Our intention and ideal focus on development for our people. From our visit to the international market, we are very happy with the indigenous Company handling this project. We are happy with the quality of work here. This is what the people are looking for, we say kudos to His Excellency, Alh. Ahmed Usman Ododo for those projects,” he said.

The Site Engineer, Engineer Lamidi Lasisi, assured that the project will be delivered by June next year.

“The Lokoja Ultra Modern Market has everything it needed to be an International Market. This project is a very massive one, we have all the structures out in place. This project is sitting on 13 hectares of land with parking space, safety zone, tech hub, warehouses, clinic, fire station, security house, entrance gate, lock up shops, open market,” he said.

Also speaking, the former Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Alfa Imam, former Commissioner for Commerce and Industry, Gabriel Olofu, a seasoned broadcaster, Austin Ochu, and former Chairman of Kabba-Bunu Local Government Area, Dr. Nathaniel Ojo Taiwo, praised the efforts of the Government to develop the State.
