Super Eagles Goalkeeper, Nwabali Eyes Bigger Club

Super Eagles goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali has made it clear he will be seeking a new challenge in a bigger team next season.

Nwabali’s performance helped Nigeria win silver in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations held in Ivory Coast.

The custodian has since been linked with a move to several teams, but it is Kaizer Chiefs who have been mentioned consistently.

Nwabali is adamant he wants a new challenge, and with Amakhosi rebuilding, maybe they can convince the Nigerian to join them.

“Well, everyone would love to leave because when you are in some position, you need to grow,” the 27-year-old said in a presser.

“Like everyone in my position, I would like to grow more. I’m talking about clubs higher than this [bigger than Chippa United] because I have been giving my all to my club this season. I just wish to have another challenge at some other place.

“To be honest, this season has been one of best seasons of my football career inside Chippa and outside Chippa,” he continued.

“This season, Chippa has been nice to me and being part of this family. We found ourselves ending the season better than the previous season. This season was one of the best seasons for me.”

Nwabali is expected to leave for Nigeria where he will join his Super Eagles teammates for the 2026 Fifa World Cup qualifier against South Africa.

Nwabal put in a decent shift to deny Bafana Bafana a final spot in Afcon, and Hugo Broos’ team might be in for revenge.
