A tanker explosion at Dikko junction on the Abuja-Kaduna expressway in Niger state’s Suleja Local Government Area has claimed about 77 lives.
Likewise, in addition to the destruction of properties valued at millions of naira, other persons have been hurt.
According to Radio Nigeria, due to the lack of firefighters to put out the fire, the event, which began at around ten in the morning, lingered for hours.
The number of people that have died or injured are yet to be ascertain at the time of filing in this report, but many people have died while trying to scoop petrol from the exploded tanker.
Some members of vigilante responded positively by giving a helping hand, through the evacuation of both the deceased and injured persons to a safer ground.
The Federal and Niger State Fire Service and Federal Road Safety Commission FRSC were yet to make an official statement on the incident.
