The Vice President (West Africa) of the Pan-African Youth Union, Comrade Oladele John Nihi, has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Minister for Youth Development, Engr. Ayodele Olawande, for approving far-reaching reforms to the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), describing the development as “real progress, not promises.”

In a statement issued on Tuesday, Nihi said the reforms demonstrate the Tinubu administration’s commitment to repositioning the NYSC as a more impactful institution that prepares Nigerian youths for leadership, national development, and economic productivity.

According to him, the newly approved reforms will modernize the scheme by equipping corps members with practical and marketable skills, strengthening leadership development, improving their welfare, and enhancing their safety throughout the service year.

He noted that the initiative reflects President Tinubu’s vision of building a stronger foundation for Nigeria’s future by investing in the country’s greatest asset—its young people.

“This is not just another policy announcement; it is real progress, not promises. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is taking deliberate steps to ensure that the NYSC remains relevant in today’s rapidly changing world while creating greater opportunities for Nigerian youths to contribute meaningfully to national development,” Nihi stated.

The Pan-African Youth Union leader also praised the Minister for Youth Development, Engr. Ayodele Olawande, for his proactive leadership and unwavering commitment to advancing youth-focused policies that address the aspirations and challenges of young Nigerians.

He expressed confidence that the reforms would transform the NYSC into a more dynamic institution capable of producing innovative, skilled, and patriotic graduates equipped to drive national growth.

Nihi further urged stakeholders, including state governments, private sector organisations, and development partners, to support the implementation of the reforms to ensure their sustainability and long-term impact.

He reaffirmed his commitment to supporting policies and initiatives that promote youth empowerment, national unity, and sustainable development, emphasizing that Nigeria’s future depends largely on the opportunities created for its youth population.
