President Bola Ahmed Tinubu recorded a major political boost in Kogi State as over 3,600 votes were reportedly delivered from Odu Ward 2, the political base of Senator Jibrin Isah Echocho, during the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential primaries.

The massive turnout of party faithful in the ward was seen as a strong show of loyalty and confidence in both President Tinubu and Senator Echocho, who currently represents Kogi East Senatorial District at the National Assembly.

Speaking shortly after casting his vote, Senator Echocho declared that President Tinubu remains the best choice for Nigerians ahead of the 2027 presidential election, insisting that the people of Kogi East are fully prepared to mobilize overwhelming support for the President.

According to the lawmaker, the Tinubu administration has demonstrated courage and commitment in addressing national challenges through economic reforms, infrastructural development, improved security efforts, and renewed investments in critical sectors of the economy.

Echocho particularly praised the President for initiating major road rehabilitation projects across the country, advancing the student loan programme for Nigerian students, promoting local government autonomy, increasing investments in agriculture, and implementing policies aimed at stabilizing the economy and attracting foreign investors.

He also commended Tinubu’s administration for its focus on youth empowerment, support for small businesses, and ongoing reforms in the oil and gas sector, which he said are gradually repositioning Nigeria for long-term growth and development.

The senator maintained that the achievements of the administration have continued to resonate positively among the people of Kogi State, especially in Kogi East where he said the APC remains deeply rooted at the grassroots.

Echocho further disclosed that he would personally lead a comprehensive door-to-door campaign across the nine local government areas of Kogi East to canvass support for President Tinubu ahead of the 2027 general election.

“Myself, Murtala Ajaka, and Dr. Kashim Akor will take the message of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to every household in Kogi East.

The President has shown leadership and courage in governance, and our people appreciate his commitment to national development,” he stated.

The senator noted that his relationship with the people and his long-standing contributions to human capital development would further strengthen the APC’s mobilization drive across the senatorial district.

“I have built strong relationships with the people over the years through empowerment and service. Even during my banking career, I facilitated employment opportunities for many youths from Kogi East, and today, the people still identify with those contributions,” Echocho added.

He also highlighted several constituency projects he has facilitated across Kogi East since assuming office as senator.

According to him, these interventions were aimed at improving the living conditions of the people and bringing development closer to rural communities.

Among the projects executed by Senator Echocho are the construction and rehabilitation of rural roads, installation of solar-powered streetlights in various communities, renovation of schools, provision of healthcare facilities, medical outreach programmes, water projects, distribution of transformers to improve electricity supply, and empowerment initiatives for women and youths through grants and vocational training.

The lawmaker further emphasized his commitment to education through scholarship schemes, ICT training programmes, and employment support initiatives designed to equip young people with skills and opportunities for self-reliance.

Residents and APC supporters in Odu Ward 2 described Senator Echocho as a grassroots politician whose leadership has continued to attract meaningful development to Kogi East, noting that the overwhelming votes recorded in the ward reflected the confidence the people have in his leadership.

Political observers believe the outcome of the primaries in Odu Ward 2 signals growing momentum for President Tinubu and the APC in Kogi East as preparations gradually begin for the 2027 general elections.
