Commissioner for Solid Minerals and Natural Resources, Chief Abubakar Muhammed Bashiru Gegu, has charged political appointees from Kogi Local Government Area to spearhead a massive grassroots mobilization for the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise.

Speaking during a meeting with appointees in Gegu-Beki, Chief Bashiru disclosed that the directive came from the State Governor, His Excellency Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, as part of efforts to bolster democratic participation across the state.

He emphasized the critical link between voter registration and the fundamental right to vote, noting that the CVR was key to the future of elections in Kogi.

“Our primary task is to sensitize our people, especially at the grassroots, on the urgent need to register in this ongoing exercise,” he stated.

According to him, a voter’s card is not merely a piece of PVC but the power for every eligible citizen to exercise their franchise and shape their future.

The Commissioner further revealed that mechanisms had already been put in place to ensure the success of the mobilization. These include the engagement of stakeholders, establishment of robust structures and the setting up of a dedicated committee to oversee the process.

He urged appointees to return to their constituencies, rally around their people, and ensure massive turnout for the registration exercise, stressing the importance of consolidating on Governor Ododo’s achievements and extending the benefits of good governance.

In their goodwill messages, the APC Chairman for Kogi LGA, Hon. Abubakar Onah, extolled Chief Bashiru for his exemplary leadership, describing him as a unifying force and a pillar of strength for the party in the area.

On his part, the Chairman of the Kogi State Civil Service Commission, Barr. Muhammed Tanko Osuku, lauded Governor Ododo for his unprecedented support to Kogi LGA, stressing that the local government had never witnessed such remarkable attention in appointments and development.

The appointees which included DGs, Members of state boards, SAs, SSAs, LSAs, and WSAs, unanimously restated their commitment and support towards the success of the Ododo led administration in the state.
