The surprise inspection was part of the Commissioner’s hands-on approach to monitoring resumption compliance, assessing learning conditions, and encouraging students and staff at the start of the new term.

Addressing students during the visit, the Commissioner charged them—particularly those in SSS3 and JSS3 preparing for their external examinations—to remain focused, disciplined, and committed to their studies. He reassured them that the State Government has taken full financial responsibility for all their examination fees, including WAEC.

Hon. Jones further informed the SSS3 students that the forthcoming WAEC examination will be Computer-Based Testing (CBT). He disclosed that the government has not only paid for the examinations but has also funded comprehensive CBT training to adequately prepare students for the new format.

The Commissioner also emphasized the importance of security consciousness within school communities.

He urged students to remain vigilant and promptly report any suspicious movements or unfamiliar faces to their teachers or school authorities to ensure collective safety and protection.

He reiterated that the government has made significant strides in strengthening security across the state, noting that the improving security situation has made it possible for schools to reopen and operate without disruption.

“We are winning against insecurity, and that is why our schools can safely resume,” he stated.

Among the schools visited were Government Science Secondary School, Ogaminana and Ebira Community Secondary School, Ogaminana, and GYB Model School Oke-Ibukun, where the Commissioner interacted with students, teachers, and school administrators.

In addition to engaging with students, Hon. Jones inspected newly completed school buildings and infrastructural projects executed by the State Government, many of which are ready for commissioning in due course.

He expressed satisfaction with the quality and pace of work, reaffirming the administration’s commitment to improving educational infrastructure across the state.

The Honorable Commissioner was accompanied on the visit by the Special Adviser on Education, Mallam Abdulmalik Abdulahi, and the Director of Basic and Secondary Education, Mr. Ere Salami.

The unscheduled visit underscores the government’s dedication to educational excellence, student welfare, and the creation of a secure and conducive learning environment for all.
