The Centre for Ethics and Self Value Orientation (CESVO) has honoured the Kogi State Senior Secondary Education Board (KGSSEB) and members of its management team with prestigious ethics and integrity awards following an independent nationwide assessment of public institutions.

The awards were presented after CESVO’s comprehensive and discreet evaluation of ethical compliance, transparency, accountability and professional conduct in public service across Nigeria.

In recognition of its commitment to ethical leadership and responsible public service delivery, the Kogi State Senior Secondary Education Board (KGSSEB) received the Corporate Ethics and Integrity Compliance Award, ranking among the top ethical state agencies in Nigeria for the 2025/2026 assessment period.

The Executive Chairman of KGSSEB, Dr. Habiba Suleiman, also received special recognition with the Ethical Conduct Compliance Certificate and was conferred with the prestigious title of Ambassador of Ethics and Conscience (AEC) in acknowledgement of her exemplary leadership, integrity, transparency and commitment to institutional reforms within the Board.

Members of the Board’s management team were equally honoured for their roles in promoting ethical governance and professionalism in public service.

Permanent Member II, Hon. Alhassan Ada Hussein, Permanent Member III, Hon. Adambe Otaru, and the Acting Secretary of the Board were all conferred with the Public Service Ethics Compliance Ambassadorial Award in recognition of their contributions to ethical administration, discipline, accountability and professionalism in the management of the Board.

In further recognition of professional excellence within the administrative structure of the Board, Mr. Olugbenga Samson Oluwagbemiga, Personal Assistant to the Executive Chairman, received a Letter of Commendation for Outstanding Professional Ethics Compliance and Quality Public Service Delivery, acknowledging his administrative efficiency, integrity, loyalty and commitment to ethical workplace practices.

According to the Executive Director of CESVO, Prince Salih Musa Yakubu, the awards followed an independent evaluation of over 700 Ministries, Departments and Agencies across Nigeria, during which KGSSEB distinguished itself through adherence to due process, ethical compliance, transparency, staff discipline and commitment to quality public service delivery.

Prince Yakubu described the recognition as part of its mission to promote ethical leadership, anti-corruption advocacy and value re-orientation in governance and public institutions.

Responding, the Executive Chairman of KGSSEB, Dr. Habiba Suleiman, expressed appreciation to CESVO for the recognition and reaffirmed the Board’s commitment to integrity-driven governance.

“It is with a deep sense of humility and responsibility that I accept this honour on behalf of the entire management and staff of the Kogi State Senior Secondary Education Board.

When we embarked on reforms within the Board, our primary objective was not to win awards but to build a system where merit, transparency and accountability guide our operations. To have an independent civil society organisation assess our activities and find us worthy of this recognition is a strong validation of the reforms we are implementing.”

She noted that the recognition reflects the collective commitment of the Board’s leadership, teachers and administrative staff across the state.

“In the public sector, the greatest challenge is often not a lack of resources but a lack of ethical orientation. At KGSSEB, we have deliberately prioritised transparency, discipline, professionalism and dedication to duty.

This recognition therefore belongs not only to the Board’s management but also to the hardworking teachers and administrative staff across Kogi State who continue to support our reform agenda.”

Dr. Suleiman further emphasised that the award would serve as motivation to strengthen ethical governance and improve educational service delivery in the state.

This award is not a finish line; rather it is a reminder that the public expects higher standards from us. It strengthens our resolve to continue promoting integrity, accountability and innovation in the management of senior secondary education in Kogi State.
