Former African Democratic Congress ADC Stalwart in Ijumu Local Government Area, Comrade  Oloruntoba Maiye JoJo has started Why he dumped the Party for the ruling All Progressives Congress APC.

In a statement posted on his verified Facebook page titled “Why I Left for APC,” he gave reasons for his actions.

Read full statement below.

Politics, like every aspect of life, is dynamic and shaped by realities, convictions, and the desire to make meaningful contributions to society,

In recent times, many people have questioned my decision to defect to the All Progressives Congress (APC), especially considering my earlier stance against the party and my critical disposition toward the government led by its leadership. Some have also alleged that my decision was influenced by money or that I have sacrificed my principles on the altar of politics. This is far from the truth. My decision was not motivated by personal gain, but by careful reflection, political realities, and my conviction about the leadership and direction I believe will better support my aspirations to contribute meaningfully to society.

Without doubt, I have at different times expressed reservations about certain policies and actions of the party. Those positions were borne out of my convictions at the time and my sincere desire to see a better system of governance for our people. However, leadership and political participation demand openness to evolving realities, constructive engagement, and the courage to align with platforms that offer opportunities for growth, service, and impact.

My recent decision to join the APC is therefore a product of careful reflection, personal conviction, and confidence in the leadership and performance of my political leader, whose vision, commitment, and political direction I deeply admire and support. His movement to the APC further strengthened my resolve and provided a clearer pathway for me to contribute meaningfully within a broader political structure.

I have also come to the realization that some individuals I once considered as leaders within the opposition, and for whom I laboured and made sacrifices in the past, have not demonstrated a clear political vision and direction capable of inspiring confidence for the future. Their records of abandoning loyalty, loyalists, and committed followers at critical moments have further raised concerns about dependability and political trustworthiness.

Consequently, I have found it difficult to continue to place my political aspirations and future on such uncertain foundations.

This reality has also influenced my decision to align with a structure and leadership that I believe offer greater stability, inclusiveness, and clearer prospects for meaningful political participation and service.

Beyond loyalty to leadership, I have also come to appreciate the importance of political identity and association in the pursuit of public service. An aspiring individual who desires to make meaningful inroads in politics must, to some extent, identify with an established political structure and recognized leadership in order to gain visibility, experience, and the necessary platform to contribute effectively to nation building.

My decision should therefore not be viewed as an abandonment of principles, but rather as a strategic and progressive step toward greater participation in governance and service to the people. Politics should ultimately be about development, inclusion, and the pursuit of collective progress rather than permanent hostility or rigid partisanship.

In conclusion, my movement to the APC is driven by conviction, political growth, and the desire to contribute positively to the advancement of our society. I remain committed to the ideals of good governance, accountability, and service to humanity.

I believe this new political journey offers me a better opportunity to support purposeful leadership and to play my own part in building a stronger and more prosperous nation.
