Gov. Bello Orders Immediate Total Overhaul of Schools in Command Army Records

Kogi State Governor, Alh. Yahaya Bello has directed the immediate rehabilitation of Schools in Command Army Records, Chari-Maigumeri Barracks, Lokoja.

The Schools are; Army Day Secondary School and Army LGEA Nursery and Primary School.

To this end, the Commissioner of Education, Science and Technology, Hon. Wemi Jones and the Chairman, Kogi State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) paid an on-the-spot assessment to the Schools.

The Commissioner told Newsmen after the Tour that the visit was in line with the directive of the Governor to visit School with the view of fixing it in no distant time.

He expressed concern over the dilapidated State of the Schools, saying following the numerous contributions of the Army to the Security of lives and Property in Kogi State, Government is ready to render assistance.

Hon. Jones said a Team of Experts will visit the Schools in the next one week to carryout the necessary assessment so as to commence repairs in the nearest possible time.

“In our continuos desire to make education accessible to all, the Governor has directed that the Primary and Secondary Schools in Army Barracks should be renovated as quickly as possible.”

“the Structures are very old structures, the Primary and Secondary Schools, I was told have been in existence for over 40 years and am not sure if any major renovation has been done.”

The Commissioner added that the renovation would possibly be done before the resumption of Schools next month to provide a conducive atmosphere for teaching and learning.

On his part, the Chairman of SUBEB, Comr. Suleiman Ndalaye restated that the renovation would be done in line with the “GYB Standard” for the benefit of Pupils, Students and Teachers.
