The Kogi State Security Adviser, Commander Jerry Omodara (retd.), on Friday visited his hometown, Oke-Offin Bunu, in the Kabba/Bunu Local Government Area of the state, to inspect ongoing projects and check on beneficiaries of his empowerment programme.

Omodara toured the Comprehensive High School, Oke-Offin, which is being renovated by the Nigerian Army at his instance. The project covers a six-classroom block, toilets, a solar-powered borehole, an overhead tank, a perimeter fence, landscaping, solar streetlights and a football field.

He said the renovation was aimed at improving the learning environment and restoring the school’s lost glory. He expressed satisfaction with the progress of work and commended the Army for its commitment.

“Education remains a top priority,” he said, adding that the intervention would give students a more conducive atmosphere for learning.

Omodara also thanked the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. W. Shaibu, for approving the reconstruction of six schools, among other projects, across the state as part of the 2026 Chief of Army Staff Annual Conference, which Kogi will host in December.

He disclosed that work on the six schools was currently going on simultaneously across the state, and described the Army’s civil-military relations under the current Chief of Army Staff as commendable.

During the visit, the adviser also made brief stops to assess beneficiaries of his last empowerment programme and see how they were using the items given to them.

Among those visited were a tailor, who received an industrial sewing machine and complete sewing materials, and a barber, who got clippers, a towel warmer, a sterilizer, a standing fan and a generator.

The beneficiaries thanked him, saying the items had significantly improved their businesses and livelihoods.

Omodara reiterated his commitment to supporting grassroots people and attracting more development projects to the community.
