The All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for Kogi West Senatorial District, Samuel Bamidele Aro, on Friday received a rousing reception in Kogi and Lokoja Local Government Areas after the Federal High Court in Abuja declared him winner of the party’s primary election for the 2027 general elections.
Our correspondent observed that supporters of the ruling party turned out en masse to welcome Aro along the stretch from Gegu to Koton Karfe in Kogi Local Government Area, and in Lokoja, the state capital. The reception followed the judgment, which affirmed him as winner of the APC Kogi West Senatorial primary held in May.

Aro later proceeded to the residence of the State Security Adviser, retired Navy Commander Jerry Omodara, where party leaders were waiting to receive him.
Addressing the leaders, he thanked God and the party’s leaders for their support, and commended the judgment that restored his mandate. He also said he was ready to work with Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the local government chairmen in the district to attract development.
“I want to, sincerely and unreservedly, thank every one of you for standing by me. I want to thank you for all your support.
“Secondly, I want to tell you that I will not betray you. I want to tell you that my own reign, when God ordained it, is for me to create unity among the people of Kogi West and among the people of Kogi State in general.
“I will be a representative that will work with the local government, the youth, the leaders, the women, and be a senator that is going to work with Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo.
“All I am saying is that I, Samuel Bamidile Aro, am going to work with everybody. I have no enemy. Everybody is my friend. I look forward to working with every one of you.
“And I urge every one of you: come January 2027, move out, vote for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. I pray for every one of you.”
The candidate promised not to betray the trust reposed in him and assured the people of quality representation. He urged residents of the district to collect their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) and vote for the President.
The leader of the Kogi West APC Leaders Forum, Omodara, said the group was ready to ensure victory for the party. He described Aro as a reliable and trusted leader who would not disappoint the people of the district.
Other leaders of the forum, including a former Speaker, Alfa Imam, and Alhaji Shuaibu Ipinmisho, described the victory as well deserved and expressed optimism about Aro’s chances at the polls.
The entourage later proceeded to the Lokoja Amusement Park, where jubilant supporters received the candidate.
