The Transition Caretaker Chairman Ijumu LGA, Alhaji Ibrahim Haruna on Friday, flagged off distribution of Rice palliative aimed at cushioning the effects of the removal of the fuel subsidy across the 15 Wards of the Local Government.
Recalled, Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo on Tuesday 20th, February, 2024, flagged off the first quarter distribution palliative to people of the State.
Present at the Ijumu flag-off ceremony are representatives of the people of the local government from major blocs which included the Traditional Rulers, Community Development Associations (CDAs), the Market Associations, the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC), Nigerian Union of Teachers (NUT) as well as Religious leaders among others.
The caretaker Chairman, while speaking at the event, explained that the distribution will be done across the 15 Ward in Ijumu LGA.
According to him, about 1,200 bags of 50kg of rice was allocated to the Local Government by the State Government.
He also thanked Governor Ahmed Usman for alleviating the pain of the masses, despite his less than two months in office.
He further expressed gratitude to the people for their understanding, patience and resilience in the challenging period of economic hardships.

the member representing Ijumu Constituency at the state assembly, Hon. Omotayo Adeleye Ishaya, thanked the executive governor of Kogi State for the initiative, saying it will relieve the pains of the people.
On his part, Hon. Sunday Faleke, the Commissioner for special duties and Inter Governmental Affairs appreciated Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo for the gesture.
Hon. Faleke used the opportunity to extend the greetings and appreciation of the Governor to the gathering, for their support during the last gubernatorial election that saw the victory’s of our great party.
The Director of the Local government, Mr Asaju Femi, in his Goodwill message, appreciated the executive governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo for putting smile at the faces of the people at this moment, he further thanked the caretaker Chairman Ijumu LGA, and all other stakeholders of the party for ensuring quick distribution and for setting up a feedback committee mechanism to monitor the process at various Wards.
Hon Paul Afobaje, the APC Chairman of Ijumu Local Government Area thanked the Governor, caretaker Chairman and all the Stakeholders involved in the distribution of the palliative and appealed to all Ward Chairmen to monitor the exercise.
