The Kogi State Government has handed over a renovated house to Mrs. Caro Ashemi Asala, whose home was gutted by fire last month.

The house, located behind Muslim Community Secondary School, Lokongoma, Lokoja, was handed over on behalf of Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo by the State Security Adviser, Commander Jerry Omodara (rtd).

On the 10th of last month, Mrs. Asala’s house was razed by fire, with all her valuables destroyed in the inferno. When the incident was brought to his attention, Governor Ododo directed that the victim and her family be provided with temporary accommodation while renovation work commenced immediately.

Handing over the renovated house, Commander Omodara expressed satisfaction with the quality and speed of the work, describing the Governor’s swift intervention as a mark of responsible and responsive leadership.

He reiterated the commitment of the Ododo administration to the welfare of Kogi residents, assuring that the Governor would continue to respond to the needs of the people.

An elated Mrs. Asala expressed delight over the prompt response of the State Government, saying it had clearly demonstrated that the current administration is for the people. She thanked all who came to her rescue, particularly neighbours who helped put out the fire.

Mrs. Asala, who hails from Edo State but is married to an indigene of Bassa Local Government Area, said she has no regrets marrying into Kogi State.

A similar gesture was recently extended by the State Government to victims of the GSM Village fire disaster.
