Ijumu Holds 2024 Town Hall Meeting as Council Boss Gives Scorecard

Alhaji Ibrahim Haruna, the Chairman of Ijumu Local Government Council on Friday attended the Ijumu Consultative Forum’s Annual Summit, where he expressed appreciation for the collective efforts of stakeholders in fostering peace and development within the local government area.

 

The summit brought together notable sons and daughters of Ijumu; Traditional Council, Community Development representatives, Political Stakeholders , Business magnate, reputable Civil and public servants among others to deliberate on pressing issues including unity, security, synergy, and community development.

 

In his address, Alhaji Ibrahim Haruna thanked the Governor of Kogi State for his transformative impact, in which Ijumu Local Government has greatly benefited, he pointed at the ongoing 10k road construction in Ayetoro Gbede, approved Asaya-Ogidi-Ayere road, Hospital takeover, Business support programme, Civil servants welfare and lots more.

The Chairman restated the commitment of his administration in upgrading the local government to an enviable status.

Highlighting his key achievements so far, he points up the successes recorded, particularly in the area of security, noting that through strategic measures and proactive policies, the local government has recorded zero kidnapping incidents for over five months.

 

He also espaciated on key strategies that have been designed to address the long-standing conflict between farmers and herders, emphasizing that the policies implemented have been instrumental in ensuring peaceful coexistence, which by extension will boost agricultural productivity.

 

The Chairman further discussed other pressing issues including revenue generation, as he stressed the need for innovative strategies to improve the financial standing of the Local Government.

 

He acknowledged that increased revenue is critical for better allocation and development, pointing out that the current revenue profile of the local government needs urgent improvement.

Alhaji Ibrahim reiterated his administration’s commitment to positioning Ijumu Local Government as a model of excellence and progress. He assured stakeholders that his government would continue to be a dependable partner with the state government, working collaboratively to deliver benefits to the people while he acknowledged the positive response of the state Governor to every of his request.

 

He further provided insights into his developmental agenda, which prioritizes key areas such as agriculture, health, education, security, and overall community development emphasising that his administration is determined to implement sustainable policies and programs aimed at improving the quality of life for all residents.

 

During the interactive session, members of the congress raised critical questions and shared valuable ideas and strategies aimed at enhancing the status of the local government.

 

They commended the chairman for his forward-thinking initiatives and dedication to addressing the needs of the people, especially in key sectors.

 

The congress expressed gratitude for Alhaji Ibrahim Haruna’s commitment and pledged continued support to ensure sustainable development across Ijumu Local Government.
