The Kogi State Government has commended the 12 Brigade of the Nigerian Army for arresting two drivers conveying equipment belonging to illegal miners in the state.
The State Security Adviser, Commander Jerry Omodara (retd.), gave the commendation while receiving the recovered items at the brigade’s headquarters, saying the state would sustain its partnership with the Army to rid Kogi of criminals.

He said the drivers were arrested following an intelligence report indicating they were heading to Agbaja in Lokoja Local Government Area through Giriya in Kogi Local Government Area.
Omodara noted that illegal mining had contributed significantly to insecurity in the country, warning that the equipment, if allowed to reach the forest, would have aided banditry in the axis.
He added that the state was winning the war against insecurity, disclosing that security agencies had been directed to sustain the current onslaught against criminal elements.
The security adviser appealed to residents to volunteer more information to help security operatives nip crime and criminality in the bud.
Items recovered from the drivers include a Hiace bus, shovels, a gasoline pump and head pans, among others.
