Jubilation in Agbede-Apaa as Kogi Education Commissioner Commences Drilling of Solar-Powered Borehole

There was jubilation in Agbede-Apaa Community in Bunu District of Kabba-Bunu Local Government Area of Kogi State as the Kogi State Commissioner for Education, Hon. Wemi Jones, FCIB, has extended the development strides of Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo to the grassroots through the donation of a borehole project to the community.

The intervention, which is already generating excitement among residents, is aimed at addressing the long-standing challenge of access to clean and portable water in the community. Agbede-Apaa, one of the most politically active and vibrant communities in Okebukun Ward, is expected to witness a significant improvement in the living conditions of its people upon completion of the project.

Construction work on the borehole has commenced, with the construction engineer, Engr. Mathew Ajigi and other engineers with his team of workers already mobilized to site.

 

Community leaders and residents have expressed appreciation to Hon. Wemi Jones for what they described as a timely and impactful intervention that reflects responsive and people-oriented leadership.

The gesture is seen as part of the broader commitment of Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo’s administration to ensuring that the dividends of democracy reach every corner of Kogi State, especially rural communities that require critical infrastructure and social amenities.

Observers noted that the project further underscores Hon. Wemi Jones’ reputation as a grassroots-oriented leader who continues to complement the developmental vision of the Ododo administration through meaningful community interventions. Hon. Wemi Jones currently serves as Kogi State Commissioner for Education and has been recognized for public service and community development initiatives.

Speaking on the development, residents described the borehole project as a life-changing initiative that would greatly reduce the burden of sourcing water from distant and often unsafe locations.

 

They expressed optimism that within a few days, the community would begin to enjoy uninterrupted access to clean drinking water.

As work progresses steadily, Agbede-Apaa is already looking forward to a new chapter where the challenge of water scarcity becomes a thing of the past, thanks to the thoughtful intervention of Hon. Wemi Jones and the inclusive development philosophy of Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo.
