Wife of Kogi State Governor, Hajia Sefinat Usman Ododo joined other Governors wives at the 5th Annual Summit of the Nigeria Governors’ Spouses’ Forum at the Congress Hall of the Transcorp Hilton, Abuja.
The event was part of the 2024 activities for the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence (GBV) campaign.
With the theme “Transforming Norms, Strengthening Laws: Ending Violence Against Women and Girls,” the summit highlighted the urgent need to challenge harmful societal practices and put in place strong laws to protect women and girls across Nigeria.
Highpoint of the summit was the exhibition of products and food items from various states, including kogi State, where i showcased our rich cultural heritage (Itinochi) and the diversity of our local products.
She used the summit to restated her commitment to tackling GBV in Kogi State through innovative policies and partnership with individuals and NGOs, by taking the campaign to the grassroots in other to create safe spaces and opportunities for our women and girls to thrive.
“And to the women and girls of Kogi State, you are the backbone and spirit of our communities. Together, let us rise, break the silence, and reject all forms of violence. United, we can build a future that is safer, stronger, and more just, where every woman and girl can flourish with dignity, hope, and opportunity.
