The Kwara State Government has approved the payment of a 30% Peculiar Allowance for workers in Agencies, Parastatals, and Media Houses who had yet to benefit from the allowance earlier approved for their counterparts in the mainstream civil service.
The Acting Head of Service, Dr. Olufunke Mercy Shittu, disclosed this in a statement issued today by the Press Secretary, Office of the Head of Service, Mr. Okanlawon Solomon.
According to the statement, the approval is part of the administration’s continued commitment to workers’ welfare, equity, and inclusiveness across the state public service.
Dr. Shittu explained that the implementation of the allowance will take effect from June 1, 2026, noting that the gesture further demonstrates Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq’s dedication to improving the wellbeing and morale of workers in the state.
The Acting Head of Service commended the Governor for his consistent support for the workforce and for sustaining policies that promote fairness and productivity within the civil service.
She urged workers in the affected establishments to remain committed, diligent, and supportive of government policies and programmes aimed at advancing the state.
Meanwhile, the statement revealed that salaries for the month of May had been paid ahead of the Eid-el-Kabir (Sallah) celebration to enable workers celebrate the festive season comfortably with their families.
The Acting Head of Service felicitated workers and the Muslim faithful across the state on the occasion of the Sallah celebration and prayed for continued peace, progress, and prosperity in Kwara State.
