The Kogi State Government, through the Office of the State Security Adviser, on Friday commenced the immediate evacuation of trailers parked at Abobo, Kogi Central following an intelligence report.

This move is in line with the Government’s continued fight against crime and criminality in the state.

Addressing journalists during a press briefing at the evacuation site, the State Security Adviser, Commander Jerry Omodara (rtd), recalled that the Kogi State Government had earlier ordered the closure of the trailer park.

He stated that the directive reportedly received full compliance from drivers and traders operating within the affected area.

However, he noted that, acting on credible information, his office discovered that activities had continued at the illegal trailer park, which His Excellency, Governor Ododo, has directed be stopped immediately.

The Security Adviser stated that through intelligence-led policing, coordinated raids, strategic surveillance operations, stop-and-search exercises, and tactical interventions across identified black spots, the state has continued to record decisive successes against armed robbery, kidnapping, illegal possession of firearms, cultism, drug trafficking, human trafficking, burglary, and other violent crimes.

Commander Omodara highlighted major breakthroughs recorded during the evacuation, particularly the arrest of suspected drug kingpins and their accomplices.

Large bags containing dried weeds suspected to be Indian hemp, as well as ammunition and charms, were also recovered.

He commended security agencies for their professionalism, courage, discipline, and dedication to duty, noting that the achievements reflect the operational resilience and commitment of security forces to maintaining peace and security across the state.

Omodara also appreciated the Government of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for its continued support to Kogi State in the fight against crime and criminality.

Commander Jerry Omodara (rtd) reassured Kogi residents that the state government would continue to intensify intelligence gathering, tactical operations, patrol activities, and community policing initiatives to ensure sustained peace, safety, and protection of lives and property across Kogi State.

“Your days are numbered. There will be no safe haven and no breathing space for criminals in Kogi State,” Omodara warned.
