The Kogi State College of Education, Ankpa has achieved a major breakthrough in its institutional drive toward enhanced safety of lives and property by securing a Tetfund special security intervention for the construction of a comprehensive perimeter fence around the College.
Provost of the College, Dr. Paul Femi Fashagba made this known while condoling the management and Staff round the fencing of the College.
The Provost, who expressed delight with the development, noted that it will compliment the effort of the Chief Servant of Kogi State, Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo, who has achieved a lot in the area of Security.
Dr. Fashagba, who expressed gratitude to TETFUND for the approval of the perimeter fencing, described it as a testament to the purposeful, pragmatic, and forward-looking leadership of his administration which has consistently demonstrated an unwavering commitment to the protection of lives and property within the academic community.
According to him, the proposed perimeter fencing project is designed to fortify the college’s security architecture by preventing unauthorized access, deterring criminal activities, and ensuring a controlled and secure campus environment.
Beyond its physical significance, the initiative represents a strategic investment in the overall well-being of students, staff, and visitors, thereby fostering a more conducive atmosphere for academic excellence, research, and institutional growth.
He described the intervention as timely and aligned with the fundamental responsibility of governments and institutional administrators to guarantee the safety and security of citizens and public assets.
The Provost noted that the project will significantly reduce security vulnerabilities while enhancing operational efficiency within the campus.
Some members of the College Community lauded the development as a bold and commendable step, underscoring its importance in addressing contemporary security challenges facing tertiary institutions in Nigeria.
They expressed confidence that the initiative will not only strengthen internal security but also boost the confidence of parents, guardians, and partners in the institution’s capacity to provide a safe learning environment.
