NEDC distributes Briquette making Machines to youths in Borno

In a bid to promote sustainable energy solutions and tackle youth unemployment, the North East Development Commission on Monday distributed Briquette Making Machines to 20 youths in Borno

 

The distribution ceremony, held at the NEDC headquarters, in Maiduguri, the capital of the state

 

Addressing the beneficiaries, the Managing Director of the Commission, Mohammed Goni Alkali urged them to take the best use of the machines for self reliance

 

“You have been trained in the use of these machines. Do not sell it, and we urge you to use it to sustain yourselves. If you have any technical issues that you cannot handle, always contact your trainers” he advised

Goni emphasized the commission’s commitment to equipping young people with practical skills and resources that enable self-sufficiency and driving economic development in the region.

 

According to him, “the beneficiaries of the initiative recently underwent comprehensive training in briquette production, courtesy of the NEDC. With the provision of these machines, they now have the opportunity to apply their knowledge in real-world settings, potentially turning their skills into sustainable livelihoods”

 

” Briquette Making Machines are designed to convert waste biomass into high-quality briquettes, providing a cleaner and more efficient alternative to traditional fossil fuels.

 

One of the beneficiaries, Muhammad Shuwa told PUNCH that the equipment is a life changing opportunity for her.

 

“This is a life-changing opportunity, I don’t know how to appreciate the Commission. All I can say is that I sincerely thank them and I pledge to use it to sustain myself and family” she said
