The Pro-Chancellor and Governing Council Chairman of the Federal University of Education, Pankshin (FUEP), Dr Funsho Olumoko, has urged political appointees in Kogi State who are not aligned with Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo to resign their positions, insisting elections are not won on social media.
Olumoko, who spoke at a stakeholders’ meeting of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Okun land, said any appointee unable to key into the governor’s vision should honourably step aside rather than remain in office while working against the system that brought them in.
“If you are in a system and you are not stable within that system, then you are not worth being in that position as far as I am concerned,” he said. “If you know that you are not aligning with the one who appointed you, then the honourable thing to do is to resign and leave, so that you face what you want to face.”
He called for unity and teamwork within the party ahead of the 2027 general elections, saying members must work together to deliver victory for President Bola Tinubu, Governor Ododo, and all APC candidates. He described the stakeholders’ meeting as timely and expressed confidence in a landslide victory for the party across Okun land, Kogi West, and the entire state.
Olumoko dismissed the influence of online sentiment on electoral outcomes, noting that elections are decided by actual votes, not public perception. “There’s no Polling Unit on Social Media,” he said, adding that elections are a game of numbers, not emotions and wishes.
He further commended President Tinubu for what he described as a fresh wave of development across the states, citing increased federal allocations and the appointment of indigenes of Okun extraction into federal positions.
Among the President’s achievements, he listed the ongoing move to revive the Ajaokuta Steel Company and the approval for the rehabilitation of the Kabba-Ifaki and Kabba-Ilorin roads.
Olumoko expressed confidence that a re-elected Tinubu administration would deliver more dividends to the people of Okun land.
