The Muri/Sam Campaign Council says no intimidation can stop the Social Democratic Party (SDP) from taking over Kogi State in the November 11th Governorship election in the State.
Speaking at a Press Briefing in Lokoja on Wednesday, Director General, New Media of the Campaign Council, Isaiah Davies Ijele, said despite alleged attacks on the party offices and members, the party is focused on winning the election.
He alleged that SDP supporters had been attacked in Dekina, Ofu, Lokoja, and other parts of the state, calling on the acting Inspector General of Police, Mr. Kayode Egbetokun, and other heads of security agencies to protect the electorate before, during, and after the gubernatorial election.
According to him, Kogi is not the only State where the Governorship election would be held on November 11th and wondered why the attack on supporters of the party.
He further states that the “Security situation in Kogi is beyond human comprehension. Are we in a war zone? Politics is not war, neither is it a do or die contest.”
He challenged Candidate of the All Progressives Congress to a 30mins live interview.
Director General of the campaign council, Sheikh Jibrin Ibrahim, said the party will enjoy massive votes from the electorate which will lead to victory at the polls.
On the Security situation of the State, Sheikh Ibrahim noted” We can no longer sleep with our two eyes closed. They are attacking and killing our supporters in Lokoja, Ankpa, Ugwolawo, Oforachi, Dekina Town, Umomi, Emewe Opada, and other parts of Kogi East.
“As we speak, no less than two of our supporters have been missing for days. No one, including the security agencies, knows their whereabouts. Muri/Sam campaign director in Dekina was recently attacked. His house and motorcycle were burnt.
Recall that the APC Campaign Council’s Spokesman, Mr. Kingsley Fanwo, had denied sponsoring any attack against SDP supporters in the state.
“We are a Government and our priority is to protect all the people of Kogi State, irrespective of political leanings.
“As a Government, our concern and responsibility is to create an enabling environment for all to pursue their normal businesses.
