ODA Delegation Meet Elder Abejide, Seeks Creation of Okun State

A joint delegation of the Okun Development Association (ODA) National Executive Council and the Constitution Review Committee on Monday met with Hon. Leke Abejide, Member of the House of Representatives representing Yagba Federal Constituency, at the National Assembly.

 

The meeting was to discuss the ongoing constitution review exercise in the National Assembly and its impact on the agitation for the creation of Okun state.

The ODA President General used the opportunity to present a memo representing the wishes and aspirations of Okun people worldwide for the creation of Okun state.

 

The President acknowledged and commended Hon. Abejide’s numerous contributions and giant strides in delivering democracy dividends across Okun land.

 

In response, Rt. Hon. Leke Abejide commended the initiative of the new ODA leadership and called for intensifying efforts to garner concurrence from other Okun-speaking people in Ondo, Kwara, and Ekiti states.

 

As a member of the House’s Constitution Review Committee, he assured his readiness to sponsor a bill for the creation of Okun state on the House floor.

 

Those present at the meeting are; Mr. J.O. Yusuf, Member, ODA Constitution Review Committee, Hon. Dayo Akanmode, ODA National Treasurer and Hon. Bolanle Amupitan, ODA Abuja Liaison Officer.
