Palm Sunday: Egbunu, Omada, Ijoma Others Lead Procession in Kogi, Offer Prayers for Nigeria

Christians in Lokoja, Kogi State Capital on Sunday join the world to celebrate this year’s Palm Sunday, an event to commemorate the triumphant entry of Jesus Christ into Jerusalem.

Speaking during the Palm Sunday rally in Lokoja, the Kogi State CAN secretary, Very Rev’d. Dennis Ijoma said Jesus Christ was willing to save the world form their sins.

“it teaches us that Jesus Christ was deliberate and intentional about His acceptance of the will of God to die for mankind because He knows the implication of entering into Jerusalem. He was to be arrested, persecuted, crucified and buried.’’

While Speaking on the significance of palm Sunday to Christendom, the Lokoja CAN Coordinator, Pastor Dr. Babatunde John Oluwole, said the procession implies the announcement of Jesus Christ which serves as evangelism.

The Senior Pastor of Knowledge of the Truth, Lokoja Kogi State, Pastor Dr. Joshua Omada, maintained that God has an agenda which was consciously executed in phases towards the liberation of humanity.

‘’Every one of us who is faced with doing the will of God should do it with courage’’.
The Bishop of Lokoja Dioceses Anglican Communion, Most Rev’d. Emmanuel Egbunu led the procession in Lokoja with prayers for the state and the country in general.

“The Lord will bring freedom; the Lord will end our captivity in the name of the Lord Jesus’’.
The Palm Sunday procession began from Emmanuel Anglican Church through Cinema, NTA, FMC, Post office and back to Emmanuel Anglican Church where prayers of liberation were offered to God Almighty.
Palm Sunday is commemorated Sunday before Easter which marks the resurrection of Jesus Christ.
