The Ijumu Consultative Forum has applauded the proactive effort of the Local Government Chairman, Alh. Haruna Ibrahim in the fight against insecurity.
The Forum also appointed Chairman Governing Council Federal University of Education, Pankshin, Plateau State, Hon. Funsho Olumoko as Chairman of the Ijumu Security Trust Fund.
This move is to compliment the effort of the Local Government Chairman in gathering resources and support of eminent Ijumu sons and daughters in nipping crimes and Criminalities in the bud.
This is contained in a Communiqué issued at the end of Ijumu Consultative Forum Meeting attended by distinguished personalities and stakeholders from various walks of life who are descendants of Ijumu held at the Olujumu Palace, Iyara.

The Trust Fund also has, Hon. Yori Afolabi and Mr. Sunday Thomas as Members while four additional members will be appointed after further consultation.

1. *Security Committee Formation:* A committee shall be established to liaise with His Majesty, the Olujumu of Ijumu, and the Chairman of the Local Government Council to address security issues within the kingdom.
2. *Ijumu Security Trust Fund:* A trust fund aimed at addressing security challenges was approved. A committee to raise funds for this purpose was constituted with the following members:
* Hon. Funsho Olumoko – Chairman
* Hon. Yori Afolabi – Member
* Mr. Sunday Thomas – Member
*Note:* Four additional members will be appointed after further consultation.
3. *Cattle Market Closure Report:* The forum agreed to await the report from the committee set up by the Ijumu LGA Chairman regarding the closure of the cattle market, trusting that the outcome will be in the best interest of the Ijumu people.
4. *Land Matters and Royal Conduct:* Matters related to land allocation or sales by communities or traditional rulers should not be discussed publicly. Instead, such matters should be referred to the Olujumu-in-Council for appropriate handling.
5. *Appeal for Support on Security:* The forum appealed to all well-meaning Ijumu citizens to support the calls of the Royal Fathers, especially concerning security.
6. *Land Dispute Resolution:* The council acknowledged progress on the land dispute between Iyamoye and Ekinrin-Adde concerning the proposed Federal University. Both the Obaro of Iyamoye and the Olu Adde of Ekinrin-Adde expressed satisfaction with the level of resolution achieved.
7. *Chieftaincy Title Protocol:* The requirement for obtaining written permission from the Local Government before conferring chieftaincy titles has been suspended. The responsibility now rests solely with the Traditional Council.
8. *Political Appointments:* The forum congratulated all Ijumu indigenes recently appointed to political offices, particularly by the Federal Government, and expressed gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the kind gesture.
9. *CBT Centre Advocacy:* Concern was expressed over the absence of a Computer-Based Test (CBT) centre in Ijumu. The forum urged citizens to take up the challenge for the benefit of the youth.
10. *Political Office Holders’ Attendance:* The poor attendance of political office holders at the meeting was noted with disappointment. The forum called for improved participation in future meetings.
11. *Public Address System Upgrade:* Hon. Funsho Olumoko highlighted the inadequacy of the current Public Address System in the palace. He initiated a fundraising effort during the meeting, raising ₦943,000 for the purchase of a new system and urged others to support the cause.
12. *Next Meeting Date:* The next meeting of the Ijumu Consultative Forum is scheduled to be held in September 2025.
