The Director General of the Kogi State Commodity Exchange, Export Promotion and Market Development Agency (KOSCEPA), Hon. Adewale Victor Omofaiye, has praised the Executive Chairman of Ijumu Local Government Area, Hon. Ibrahim Haruna, for his proactive role in strengthening the ongoing Independent National Electoral Commission voter registration exercise in the local government.
Hon. Omofaiye noted that the timely intervention and support of the local government chairman contributed significantly to the decision by INEC to deploy additional registration machines to Ijumu.
According to him, this development has eased pressure at registration centres and created room for more eligible residents to be captured in the voters register.
Speaking in his capacity as Chairman of the Voter Registration Committee in Ijumu, Omofaiye also commended members of the committee for their cooperation and commitment, which he said have contributed to the progress recorded so far.
He described the teamwork among stakeholders as orderly and focused, adding that it has helped address early challenges associated with turnout and logistics.
He assured political leaders, community representatives, and residents across the fifteen wards that INEC has put in place a more efficient system to sustain the exercise.
He explained that the commission will continue ward-based registration from February to March 2026, with improved service delivery aimed at reducing delays and ensuring wider coverage.
Omofaiye encouraged eligible voters who are yet to register to take advantage of the extended period and the additional facilities provided, stressing that active participation in the process remains essential to strengthening democratic representation at all levels.
