The Wife of the Kogi State Governor, Hajia Sefinat Usman Ododo has called for stronger commitment towards promoting inclusive policies and programmes that guarantee a brighter future for every Nigerian child.
In a statement to commemorate the 2026 National Children’s Day celebration themed, “Future Now: Promoting Inclusion for Every Nigerian Child,” the Kogi First Lady stressed the need for deliberate investments in children, especially in today’s rapidly evolving digital world.
Hajia Sefinat Ododo noted that ensuring inclusion for children has become imperative in shaping a future where every child, regardless of background or circumstance, is given equal opportunity to thrive.
According to her, governments, families, communities, and stakeholders must work collectively to strengthen child-focused policies that prioritize education, healthcare, ICT development, and moral upbringing.
“With reports showing consistent increase in the population of children in Nigeria, there is an urgent need for stakeholders at all levels to prioritize their future, because the future begins now,” she stated.
She congratulated children in Kogi State and across Nigeria on the occasion of the 2026 Children’s Day celebration and wished them a future filled with hope, opportunities, and fulfillment.

“I am particularly pleased that the Kogi State Government is implementing impactful programmes in education, healthcare, and ICT development to equip our children with the tools needed to succeed in the future,” she noted.
Hajia Sefinat Ododo urged parents, teachers, caregivers, and community leaders to serve as positive role models by nurturing children with the right values and encouraging them to pursue their aspirations without limitations.
She emphasized that empowering children today would guarantee responsible leadership and meaningful contributions to nation-building.
The First Lady further reaffirmed her commitment to sustaining initiatives that support the growth, protection, and development of children in Kogi State through the Ohunene Empowerment Initiative (OEI) and similar programmes in the state.
