The Vice-Chancellor, Confluence University of Science and Technology (CUSTECH), Prof. Abdulrahman Asipita Salawu, has commended the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) for its contributions to the growth of tertiary education in Nigeria.
Salawu spoke on Saturday when he received the TETFund Board of Trustees member representing the North-Central zone, Dr Hassan Abdulrahman Ocholi, at his office in Osara.

He said TETFund’s interventions had improved teaching, learning, research and infrastructure across Nigerian universities, and commended the fund for supporting CUSTECH “at its formative stage.”
The VC recalled that when the institution was established in 2021, before academic activities commenced, TETFund had released funds for the construction of three faculty buildings and a 500-seater lecture theatre.
He described the gesture as a demonstration of TETFund’s commitment to supporting the Kogi State Government’s efforts to establish the university.
“Since then, CUSTECH has continued to benefit from one TETFund intervention or another, and these interventions have contributed immensely to the rapid growth and development of the university,” he said.
Salawu appealed to the fund to consider fully solarising the university’s College of Basic Medical Sciences and to support the completion of its Central Engineering Workshop.
Responding, Ocholi commended CUSTECH’s growth, saying the institution had made “impressive strides” within six years of its establishment.
He assured the university management that its requests would receive due consideration, adding that President Bola Tinubu’s administration would continue to prioritise the education sector.
The TETFund official also appealed to Nigerians to continue supporting the Tinubu administration.
He explained that his visit was to assess completed and ongoing TETFund-funded projects and identify the university’s infrastructural needs.
Salawu later led the delegation on an inspection of the TETFund-sponsored Anatomy Building, which he said had strengthened the university’s facilities during its medical and dental accreditation exercise.
The university’s Registrar, Mrs Glory Ojochogu Yakubu; Bursar, Mr Emmanuel Ajayi Bello; Director of Physical Planning and Development, Ismail Adoke; Acting Director of Procurement, Sadiq Buhari Ozomata; Dean, Faculty of Allied Health Sciences, Dr Onimisi; Acting Director of Works and Maintenance, Engr. Rufai Sadiq; and Acting Head of Information, Public Relations and Protocol, Mr Umar Steven Ogirima, were present.
