The Ododo Vanguard for Tinubu has distributed school bags and other learning materials to indigent pupils across Ajaokuta Local Government Area of Kogi State.
The outreach, led by the Commissioner for Housing and Urban Development, Hon. Taiye Abanika, targeted children from disadvantaged backgrounds, including orphans and pupils whose parents struggle to provide basic school needs.

Speaking during the distribution, Abanika said the initiative was inspired by Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo’s commitment to inclusive governance and improved access to education.
He said visits to schools in the area showed that many pupils lacked basic learning materials, with some attending school in torn uniforms and without footwear.
According to him, the intervention provided school bags, sandals, uniforms, notebooks, socks and water bottles to ease the burden on parents and keep children in school.
Abanika noted that the gesture was also a way of giving back to society and supporting the development agenda of the Ododo administration.
In his remarks, the Commissioner for Education, Hon. Wemi Jones, represented by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Education, Abdullahi Abdulmalik, described the initiative as exemplary and worthy of emulation.
He urged beneficiaries to make good use of the items and remain committed to academic excellence, adding that the state government has continued to prioritize education through its free education policy.
The Chairman of Ajaokuta LGA, Hon. Haruna Ganaja, commended the group for demonstrating responsive leadership and commitment to grassroots development, and called on well-meaning individuals and organisations to invest in the education of young people.
On his part, the Ohi of Ajaokuta, His Royal Highness Isah Achuja, praised Governor Ododo for placing education at the centre of his administration, and commended Abanika for translating the government’s vision into practical support for children in the community.
