The G-One Enenche Campaign Council has dismissed a viral video purporting to announce the endorsement of Hon. Ibrahim Alih Halims as the sole candidate of the Imane people, declaring that political endorsements cannot replace accountability and performance.
In a statement signed by Iye Adam for the Directorate of Strategic and Corporate Communications, the council described the purported diaspora endorsement as laughable and challenged the incumbent lawmaker to publish his eight-year record of representation.
The council argued that the political future of the Imane people should not be determined by unverified declarations circulated online, but by assessment of performance and tangible development.
It said checks conducted with branches of the Imane Development Union, IDU, in Abuja, Kaduna and Kano indicated that no meeting was held and no resolution reached to adopt Halims as sole candidate.
The council therefore challenged the individual featured in the video to disclose the date and venue of the alleged meeting, the names of participants and the minutes of the proceedings.
“Any claim to represent the collective political position of the Imane people must be backed by credible evidence and an authentic mandate,” the council stated.
It maintained that the Imane Development Union remained the recognised sociocultural body for communicating the community’s collective positions, warning against presenting individual political preferences as unanimous decision.
Turning to performance, the council challenged Halims to publish a comprehensive record of his eight years in office, including projects executed in Imane and funds committed to constituency development.
It specifically demanded a detailed list of projects, their exact locations, contract sums, sources of funding and completion status.
“After eight years of representation, the incumbent should be prepared to present a clear account of his achievements and demonstrate how his time in office had translated into meaningful benefits for the people,” the statement said.
The council reaffirmed its support for Alhaji Gowon Enenche, the Social Democratic Party, SDP, candidate for Ankpa Federal Constituency, presenting him as an alternative for voters seeking accountable leadership.
It urged electorate to evaluate candidates based on records and capacity, and called on Imane indigenes, particularly youths, to exercise caution when sharing unverified political content.
The council also encouraged eligible voters to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards and participate actively in the democratic process.
It insisted that no individual or camp could unilaterally claim the collective mandate of the Imane people without credible evidence of an authorised community decision.
