The Kogi State chapter of pan-Yoruba socio-political group, Afenifere, has commended Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo for his administration’s achievements in tackling insecurity, describing the state’s security architecture as “second to none” among North Central states.

The group made the commendation in a statement to mark the 35th anniversary of Kogi State’s creation, signed by its Chairman, Pastor Ayo Abereoran, and Secretary, Barrister Anthony Olusegun Ola-Odana.
Afenifere said Ododo’s government had confronted terrorism and banditry frontally rather than negotiating with criminal elements, citing the recent rescue of kidnap victims in Ofu Local Government Area as evidence of the administration’s resolve.
The group noted that intelligence gathering and coordination among security agencies, paramilitary outfits and local vigilantes under the Ododo administration had significantly improved safety on major highways, including the Lokoja-Abuja and Kabba-Ilorin routes, which it said were previously notorious for frequent kidnappings.
“Before now, kidnapping used to be a daily occurrence which made travellers fear to travel the Lokoja-Abuja highway and Kabba-Ilorin highway, which links the Federal Capital Territory with the Eastern, Western and Northern parts of the country. Thanks to God Almighty, with your efforts our roads are safer than before,” the statement read.
Afenifere urged governors of neighbouring states to understudy the strategies behind Kogi State’s success in curbing insecurity, and pledged continued support for Ododo’s administration.
