A frontline grassroots politician in Kogi State, Hon. Funsho Olumoko, on Monday took the campaign for the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to the Ijumu Local Government Secretariat in Iyara, where workers under the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE) expressed confidence in his political leadership.

Olumoko also solicited the workers’ support for the victory of all candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in next year’s general elections.

The Pro-Chancellor and Chairman, Governing Council of the Federal University of Education, Pankshin, Plateau State, said President Tinubu’s administration had been a blessing to the people of Okun land in particular.

According to him, adequate recognition has been given to distinguished Okun sons and daughters in strategic appointments, a development he described as the first of its kind.

“A son of Okun nation is a Honourable Minister in the cabinet of President Tinubu, our children are many that the President has appointed into key positions including Hon. James Abiodun Faleke, who is a son to the President. Myself that is talking to you, I have benefited from this government and I managed the youngest Pro- Chancellor of any University in Nigeria today.

“Look at Ajaokuta Steel Company that was moribund for many years, a son of Ayegunle Gbede was appointed as Managing Director and he is making us proud by working round the clock to make the Company work. If Ajaokuta Steel Company works, we will all benefit.

“The Honest Truth is that we must all work together for the victory of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. Don’t allow some people to deceive you that they will reduce fuel prices, our President is doing the right thing and he needs more years to consolidate.”

Olumoko, who said he was surprised by the warm reception and the sacrifice of the workers in hosting him despite the economic hardship, described their decision to back the Ogidi Omo Movement in the council as overwhelming.

He thanked the leadership of NULGE for going the extra mile to put the programme together.

The Chairman of Ijumu Local Government Area, Hon. Haruna Ibrahim, described Olumoko as an upright man, saying that was why the workers had decided to follow in his footsteps.

Ibrahim said he remained grateful to Olumoko for never wavering in his support for Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo despite conspiracies, and assured that the hall project at the secretariat would be completed and named after him.

He expressed optimism that, with Olumoko’s credibility, subsequent elections would be a smooth ride, adding that the gathering was aimed at bridging the gap between the workers and politicians.

The Special Adviser to the Governor, Hon. Alex Obaropo, described the event as a homecoming for Olumoko, who he said made a significant impact on workers when he served as Caretaker Chairman.

The inaugurated leadership of the movement in the council comprises Sule Ayorinde, Chairman; Oloruniyi Innocent, Secretary; and Adamu Saudat, Women Representative. Others are Durotimi Oluwatoyin, Olumorin Francis, Adedire Omofaiye and Oniemoka Funmilayo, who are members.
