Indigenous Ijumu Cultural Festival: Tourism Magnet, Badaki Bags Outstanding Service Award

Tourism Magnet, Alh. Aliyu Badaki has been conferred with an outstanding service award by His Majesty, Oba Williams Olusegun Ayeni, the Olujumu of Ijumu Kingdom in Ijumu Local Government of Kogi State.

 

The Award which was a surprise one was part of activities at the maiden Indigenous Ijumu Cultural Festival held at the Olujumu’s Palace in Iyara.

 

The Ijumu Paramount Ruler while speaking at the ceremony described Alh. Aliyu Badaki as a pride to Ijumu Traditional Council as well as the entire Ijumu people.

 

According to the Monarch, the award was in recognition of his selflessness as the Chairman, Central Planning Committee of Ijumu Cultural Festival.

 

He also described the Tourism Magnet as a good Team Leader, who carried everyone along for the hosting of the first ever well attended Festival.

 

Oba Ayeni added that the Award is also for the entire planning Committee as the Traditional Council appreciates their dedication, sacrifice and community service effort in reviving the lost culture of the Kingdom.

 

Amazed by the gesture while responding, Alh. Aliyu Badaki expressed appreciation to the Royal Father for the honour a d dedicated it to the Planning Committee of the epoch making event.

 

Alh. Aliyu pointed out that the honour will spur him to do more, saying Ijumu Cultural Festival has come to stay.

 

ABOUT BADAKI ALIYU

 

Badaki Aliyu studied Hotel and Catering Management with HND from the Federal Polytechnic Bauchi in 1993. Also acquired Post Graduate Diploma in Management from Bayero University Kano and later obtained Masters in Recreation and Tourism from Ekiti State University, Ado- Ekiti. Currently undergoing his PhD in Hospitality and Tourism Management.

His professional working experience includes Kongo Conference Hotel, Zaria; Zaria Hotels Zaria, Grand Fishing Hotel Argungu, Kebbi State; Royal Tropicana Hotels Kano, where he rose from Restaurant Manager to Branch Manager. He became Food & Beverage Manager with Top Rank Hotels Abuja and later became the General Manager with Ideal Holiday Home Garki, Abuja.

Currently, he is the Managing Director of Blissy Hospitality Services Ltd – Managers of Several hotels across the Country.

Badaki Aliyu is a fellow of Hospitality and Tourism Management Association of Nigeria. (HATMAN)

National President of Hospitality and Tourism Management Association of Nigeria (HATMAN). Vice President Federation of Tourism Associations of Nigeria (FTAN). 2nd Deputy President of FTAN and currently 1st Deputy President of FTAN.

Badaki Aliyu is also the External Examiner with the Hospitality department of the Federal Polytechnic Bauchi, Federal Polytechnic Mubi and Federal Polytechnic Bida.
